Greece The heart of Mediterranean sailing
Steeped in a mythical history and blessed with crystal-blue waters, explorations ashore reveal Byzantine churches, ancient temples and ruined fortresses, all bathed in the warmth of the county’s exquisite climate. Each cruising area is unique, offering different experiences, challenges and scenic beauty.
Sailing the Peloponnese from Poros at the heart of the Saronic and Argolic Gulf ’s proves popular with most crews, particularly the less experienced and those looking for short daily sailing passages.
The Sporades, comprises of a chain of beautiful unspoilt ‘film set perfect’ islands, including Skopelos, Skiathos and Alonnisos stretching off the eastern shores of mainland Greece. This is a ‘must do’ sailing area for more experienced sailors.
The Ionian with its long coastline from Corfu in the north to Zakynthos in the south and a myraid of smaller islands in between form sheltered sailing waters, ideal for beginners and more experienced crews alike.
You can be assured of fresh sailing breezes whilst cruising the Dodecanese from Kos or Rhodes. Each land fall provides beautiful historic ports, picture postcard fishing harbours and secluded bays ideal for overnight anchorages.
Whichever cruising area you choose you will have endless opportunities to sample Greek culture at its very best in delightful hillside villages perfectly framed by whitewashed churches and bustling waterfronts with their colourful tavernas and restaurants.
